Les Portes & Street Art of Buenos Aires

I fell in love with doors in Paris. Their intricate wrought-iron design, sleek wooden exteriors and golden knobs made me feel like behind each door hid an equally elaborate and mysterious entranceway. In my imagination, these doors didn't open simply with the turn of a handle or the beep of a magnetic card, but with the click of an oversize, toothy metal key.

Some call Buenos Aires the Paris of Latin America. I wouldn't exactly agree...except for the doors. I recognized a Parisian flair in the architecture of Buenos Aires, which of course includes my favorite part of any home: Les Portes.

And what would a city be without its touch of street art?

I must say I found Buenos Aires to be particularly graffiti vandalized. I love street art and believe it shows an interesting facet of a city and its inhabitants, but I think BA needs to wash some of its walls clean so that people can see the beauty that lies underneath. But alas, here are a few eye-catching pieces of vandal-painted artwork.
